Job Summary

The Communications and Digital Media Manager will play an essential role in increasing Dream Corps’ capacity to leverage communications to elevate breakthrough solutions and catalyze change. This role will oversee, manage and execute all public-facing communications needs, including email, PR, social media, website content and partnership marketing.

The Communications and Digital Media Manager reports directly to the Chief of Staff but will work closely with staff throughout the organization including the CEO and National Directors. At Dream Corps we take pride in our ability to be nimble, agile and quick. A successful candidate will be a self starter who has the capacity to pivot, a high level of emotional intelligence, a sense of humor and a strong work ethic.  

Key Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with Dream Corps initiatives and Senior Team members to develop and execute compelling national and state based communications campaigns (online and offline)  in the areas of criminal justice reform, environmental equity and workforce development

  • Work with the communications team to develop Dream Corps standards and tools to create consistency in voice  

  • Develop original content, including talking points, press statements, blog posts, press releases, newsletter, and factsheets with an eye toward digital audiences

  • Perform media research, identify media opportunities and support press engagement

Digital and Social Media

  • Develop and implement comprehensive digital and social media strategies for Dream Corps and it’s initiatives

  • Create and expand digital presence for Dream Corps through social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, Spotify, Instagram

  • Update Dream Corps’  websites, including creating new content that includes graphics, photos, videos and audio

  • Develop and implement a strategy to grow the email list and audience for Dream Corps and it’s initiatives

  • Write, edit and upload copy for monthly newsletter, campaign emails, infographics and print


  • Manage media communications databases

  • As requested monitor press appearances on TV, print and online outlets and prepare news clips for distribution

  • Manage communications vendors i.e graphic designers, print houses, PR Firms and others

  • Partner with fundraising staff to align communications efforts with development goals


  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • Proven self-starter; can work independently with little or no direction
  • Minimum of three years of communications and/or marketing experience (ideally working in justice-oriented non-profits)

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast paced environment

  • Ability to handle multiple assigned tasks efficiently

  • Creative approach to digital storytelling

  • Excellent copywriting and editing skills
