Michelle is an artist, Water Resource Engineer, environmental activist, and most importantly, a mother to two girls. She worries about her children’s future in an uncertain world due to the threats of climate change, sea level rise, and pollution. Her family lives within a few miles from a coal-fired power plant whose coal ash is polluting their community and causing children to be sick. She sees her children bearing the impacts of fossil fuel burning today, but also their future which will be affected by climate change. In 2017, her home suffered structural and flooding damage due to Hurricane Irma, and her family in Puerto Rico was affected by Hurricane Maria that same year.
