DJ Hines

Wisconsin

When he graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison with a bachelor’s in Psychology and Pre-Medicine December, 2003, good grades and a passion for medicine suggested that Darrell L. Hines II was well on his way to becoming Dr. Hines. Nevertheless, a passion for marketing and media redirected his career path.

Darrell volunteered and was later hired to manage the Marketing and Media Department at Christian Faith Fellowship Church due to his marketing savvy.  He generated copy, organized marketing campaigns, and produced material for TV and outdoor advertising; he produced programming that his father Bishop Darrell Hines, Sr. hosted for a local affiliate of the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), and The Word Network.

Further capitalizing on his marketing ability Darrell founded his own interactive design and marketing firm, Creative Spurts, in the spring of 2005.  His ingenuity helped him to garner such clientele as Comer Holdings, Johnson and Bryce, Generation Growth Capital, Choice Construction, and All-star NBA veteran, Michael Redd.

Darrell simultaneously made his production debut with his father’s musical debut when he served as executive producer for their Darrell Hines Live recording project in 2010. The album ranked among the “top 10” on gospel billboard charts and was nominated for a Stellar Award. The success of Darrell Hines Live yielded opportunity for the ‘junior’ Darrell to manage other artist. In March 2012 Darrell co-founded Shine Management, a company that serves multi-genre, multi-artists, and he subsequently became host on WJYI’s (AM-1340) “REVERB”.

A number of boards throughout greater Milwaukee have yielded a seat to Darrell’s ingenuity and creativity. Among them are African World Festival, Film Wisconsin, The Gadzuric Foundation, World Enterprises, Flippin 2 a Cure and The LeRoy Butler Foundation (founded by the former NFL All Pro Safety for the Green Bay Packers).

In partnership with various local business and community organizers Darrell launched the WeGive campaign in 2014, which provides a myriad of resources to persons in need. He is founder and host of Cookout for Cancer – an inaugural fundraiser that commemorates the life and the educational efforts of Barbara Horton, and the community activism of Mother Corener Hines posthumously.

In the fall of 2015 Darrell contracted with his alma mater, The University of Wisconsin-Madison, as Creative Marketing Director in the launch of their scholarship fundraiser which features the Red Shirt Limited Edition by cutting edge designer Virgil Abloh.

Darrell is a recipient of Milwaukee Business Journal’s 2012 40 Under 40 award. He has served as Chief Operating Officer of Christian Faith Fellowship Church since 2011. He heads church administration, social & media marketing, oversees technological functions, and political liaisons for CFFC. Darrell is a sports and music enthusiast; an endearing husband to his wife Nina, and a doting father to son, Darrell Hines III, aka Tres’, and daughters, Chloe and Sedona.
