Carmen is a people-oriented and performance-driven marketing professional equipped with over 10 years of experience on national and grassroots projects involving the arts, news, nonprofit, entertainment, and professional sports. As Dream Corps’ Director of Communication, Marketing and Branding, she supports all programmatic initiatives as a strategic advisor, leading action plans, overseeing integrated planning, removing barriers and enabling execution, to bring forward actionable solutions to underrepresented individuals and communities. Carmen specializes in media relations, innovative strategic marketing, brand channel optimization, and successful cross-functional initiative coordination.
Prior to joining Dream Corps, Carmen served as Director, Communications for the American Cancer Society (ACS), developing and executing strategies and tactics to support mission, research, and revenue priority activities, and driving community relevance. Before her work with ACS, Carmen served as head of marketing for Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center (FQHC), ensuring community members were provided the human right of affordable health care through accessible high-quality service, advocacy, and community empowerment. Her health equity campaigns include implementation of advanced colorectal education, HPV cervical cancer prevention initiatives, and health agency partnerships, enabling patients of underserved communities to receive free mammograms and women’s health services, through monthly outreach events.
Carmen was born and raised in the great state of Oklahoma. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communications, with a focus on Communications Management, and a minor in Business from Howard University.
